Injuries and call-offs have led to a somewhat confusing series of amendments to the UFC’s April and May schedule, but it looks like the promotion are finally putting the pieces of the puzzle back together.
Originally UFC 129 was supposed to showcase a bout between Matt Hamill and Phil Davis, however Hamill was then moved to UFC 130 to take on ‘Rampage’ Jackson.
Davis was then assigned Jason Brilz as an alternative opponent, but following an injury to Tito Ortiz, Davis will now headline UFC Fight Night 24 instead opposite Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
So now Brilz is left without an opponent for UFC 129, and Vladimir Matyushenko has been drafted in to fill the empty spot.
Adding to the confusion, it’s not clear whether Matyushenko Vs Brilz will now be a part of the main card. My own best guess would be that it will now be moved to the prelims, allowing Nate Diaz Vs Rory MacDonald to move up to the PPV portion of the card.
