After a period of uncertainty the UFC have now confirmed that light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones will defend his title for the first time against Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.

Both fighters have now verbally agreed to the bout which will take place at UFC 135 on September 24th at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.

Following Rampage’s win over Matt Hamill last month UFC president Dana White had confirmed that Rampage was being lined up as Jones next opponent, but the likelihood of it taking place hinged on whether the fighter’s hand after Rampage revealed post-fight that he feared it may be fractured.

Luckily the damage wasn’t as bad as was first thought and the former champion his since been cleared to fight, as has Jones who was also suffering from a hand injury recently.

Othe fights expected for UFC 135 at this stage include Matt Hughes Vs Diego Sanchez and Ben Rothwell Vs Mark Hunt, with more set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
