UFC 135 on September 24th has landed a potential ‘Fight Of The Night’ candidate in the shape of Nate Diaz Vs Takanori Gomi.
After a patchy spell at welterweight in which he went 2-2, Diaz will be looking to get back on track in his favored lightweight division and establish himself as a contender there once again.
That won’t be easy against Gomi though as he is also looking to prove that he’s better than his recent 1-2 record in the UFC suggests.
Stylistically it’s an interesting fight. Diaz has the advantage on the ground, but likes his brother Nick who recently signed up to fight GSP in the UFC later in the year, Nate loves nothing more than to stand and trade punches.
That could be a risky strategy against Gomi who is one of the hardest hitters in the division, though in his favor Diaz will enjoy a four inch height and six inch reach advantage.
This fight is likely to be placed on the main card of the Denver show which will be headlined by a light-heavyweight title tilt between Jon Jones and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.
