There was a lot of hype surrounding UFC 148 this past weekend thanks to it’s main event, and that also helped the promotion to it’s best ratings yet on the FX channel with it’s preliminary coverage.
The live prelim special prior to the main card on FX drew an average of 1.8 million viewers, some 200,000 viewers better than their previous best.
That helped the show to claim the No.1 spot for all cable programming on the night amongst men 18-34 and adults 18-34.
Overall it’s great news for the UFC, though on reflection it’s just unfortunate that this new high watermark came for a set of rather lackluster prelim fights, all of which ended by decision.
UFC execs will now be hoping that this upturn will also be reflected in the pay-per-view sales for the show which they are hoping could exceed the 1 million barrier.
