UFC 169 Prelims: TV Ratings

This past Saturday night’s UFC 169 preliminary card on FOX Sports 1 drew an average of 933,000 viewers.

That leaves it ranked third out of the six PPV prelim cards aired so far on FS1 since the UFC switched to the channel in August of last year, beaten out only by two of the UFC’s biggest events of 2013, UFC 167 and UFC 168.

It was also good enough to be the highest rated show on FS1 in the past seven days – a nice feather in the UFC’s cap considering this was during Super Bowl week.

Overall, it’s good going as this wasn’t a notable undercard on paper, with John Makdessi Vs Alan Patrick being the ‘headliner’ of the free-to-air fights, while the main card on pay-per-view hadn’t appeared to be drawing a great deal of heat in the build-up to the show.

The main disappointment her is that nearly a million people watched what turned out to be a rather underwhelming series of fights, with the entire preliminary card, including the four fights on FS1 and a further three on ‘UFC Fight Pass’ earlier in the evening all being decided on the judges scorecards.
