UFC 190 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC 190 event in Brazil the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 fighter bonus awards were announced.

On this occasion ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors went to the co-main event battle between Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. ‘Shogun’ found himself rocked in the first round as Nogueira teed off on him with strikes, but to his credit he dug deep in the rounds that followed, landing repeated hard body kicks and even mixing in a takedown or two to emerge as the winner by unanimous decision.

It almost goes without saying that UFC superstar Ronda Rousey earned a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award after she took just 34 seconds to dismantle Bethe Correia. It was the manner of the finish that mattered the most on this occasion, as she showed the kind of one-punch knockout power rarely seen in the woman’s ranks, clocking Correia on the temple with a right hand that sent her crashing face-first onto the canvas.

The other ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus was handed to Demian Maia who looked silky smooth with his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu transitions as he dominated Neil Magny on the mat, leading to a second round submission finish that brought an end to Magny’s seven fight winning streak.
