UFC 203 Medical Suspensions

Travis Browne UFC 200

The UFC 203 medical suspensions report has been released and shows that only a small handful of fighters are facing the likelihood of a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Among them is co-main event fighter Travis Browne who suffered a grizzly injury, with his right index finger being fractured enough in the first round of his fight with Fabricio Werdum that the bone was actually sticking out, leading to an indefinite suspension.

Despite emerging victorious on Saturday night, Jimmie Rivera is now suspended indefinitely due to an eyepoke he suffered during his fight with Urijah Faber that’s left him with blurred vision in his right eye. Doctor’s have since diagnosed him as having a crack in his retina and a scratch on the white of his eye.

Also out indefinitely is Brad Tavares due to a lower back issue that’s believed to have emerged when he was in an elevator that freefalled a floor at a nearby hotel following the UFC 203 weigh-ins on Friday. Fellow fighter CB Dollaway was forced to pull out of the event due to a back injury he sustained in the same incident, but post-fight on Saturday, Tavares was only complaining of some tightness, so his suspension seems to just be a precaution.

Finally, Sean Spencer is also out due to a suspected fractured left hand he suffered in the prelims.
