UFC 252 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC 252 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Debuting fighters Kai Kamaka III and Tony Kelley got their first taste of UFC action in the very first bout of the evening and would end up also earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors too.

The two made the most of their time in the Octagon with a high-octane performance that saw them both landing frequently on the feet, blow-for-blow, but at the same time it was the Hawaiian Kamaka managing to mix thing up with occasional takedowns that helped swing a close fight in his favor when the fight went to the scorecards.

Virna Jandiroba earned the biggest win of her career so far and a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus to go along with it during the prelims when she took just 1.44mins to tap out Felice Herrig after catching her in an armbar submission that would lead to a tap-out victory.

Meanwhile, on the main card Daniel Pineda came in as an underdog against Herbert Burns, but despite his opponent’s grappling credentials he showed off his own tried-and-tested ground game to very good effect and in the second round was able to catch Burns in the crucifix position and punish him with elbows and punches until the referee ended the fight for a TKO victory.
