As news continues to filter through from today’s major announcement that the UFC and WEC are set to merge in 2011, Dana White has revealed how they will forge together the two promotion’s lightweight divisions.

The UFC president says that the winner of current WEC champion Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis at WEC 53 in December will go on to fight the winner of current UFC champion Frankie Edgar Vs Gray Maynard which takes place at UFC 125 on January 1st.

The bout will then unify the titles in order to declare an undisputed UFC lightweight champion.

Meanwhile current WEC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will become the UFC’s Featherweight champion, while the winner of Dominick Cruz Vs Joseph Benavidez at WEC 53 will become the UFC’s new Bantamweight champion.
