The UFC and long-time television partners Spike TV have today announced a new deal that will see the network continue to air special prelim shows from the promotion’s events in 2011.

Spike first started showing selected prelims from major events live in September of 2009.  In 2010 they committed to air 10 shows live, and their latest deal sees them ramp up that number to 12 during 2011.

On average the shows have garnered an average of 1.5 million viewers to the channel, though it has risen as high as 1.7 million.

The first event to benefit from the new deal will be UFC 126 on February 5th.  The hour long Spike TV broadcast will air two fights live prior to the main card on pay-per-view, featuring Donald Cerrone Vs Paul Kelly and Chad Mendes Vs Michihiro Omigawa.
