Just weeks after they opened a UFC branch in Canada, the promotion has now expanded it’s reach yet further with a UFC – China office.
The head of the new branch was hired at the weekend and a more formal announcement will be made in the near future.
“(The office opens) within the next few weeks,” White told MMAjunkie.com after the conclusion of UFC 116. “I’m telling you, in the 10 years that you guys have known me, have I ever said (something) that I didn’t at least try to make happen? When we say we’re going to do something, we do it. We don’t just go, ‘Oh, yeah, we’re going to go to China,’ and then we just kick around for six months. If I say we’re going to China, we’re going to [expletive] China.”
China is part of the UFC’s ambitious expansion plans for this decade as they look to spread mixed martial arts popularity world-wide.
According to White after China other destinations including India and South Korea will soon follow as they begin to build a major presence in the east.
