UFC Fight Night 58 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 58 event in Brazil the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 fighter bonus awards were announced.

In a break from the norm the UFC opted to award four ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards with the first going to main event star Lyoto Machida who took just 62 seconds to TKO CB Dollaway after hurting him badly with a kick to the body.

Renan Barao also took home a bonus after a solid performance was elevated late in the third round when he suddenly took Mitch Gagnon to the mat, mounted him momentarily then almost effortlessly tapped him out with an arm triangle choke.

Erick Silva was also in on the arm triangle action, taking Mike Rhodes down and pretty much choking him unconscious in the space of 75 seconds.

The final ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus went to Vitor Miranda who was getting controlled on the ground by Jake Collier for much of the first round in the night’s opening encounter before finally getting to his feet, landing a big head kick and finishing with punches for the TKO stoppage one second before the bell.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
