UFC Fight Night 70 Card Ravaged Due To Visa Issues

Next weekend’s UFC Fight night 70 event in Florida has been hit hard due to unexpected Visa issues that has resulted in no less than 12 fighters being forced off the card.

The issue stems not from anything the UFC has done, but rather a technical problem with the Visa system itself that has resulted in it being temporarily taken offline, leaving the promotion needing to make major changes to their fight card on very short notice.

Amongst the fights that have been scrapped as a result of the issue is the co-main event which would have seen Erick Silva go up against Rick Story, while the finals for TUF: Brazil season 4 have also been forced off the card and will now take place at UFC 190 on August 1st instead.

Thankfully the main event middleweight match-up between Lyoto Machida and Yoel Romero still goes ahead as planned and moving up to the co-main event will be Derek Brunson and Santiago Ponzinibbio.

Meanwhile, Alex Oliveira vs Joe Merritt and Leandro Silva vs Lewis Gonzalez have been added to the UFC Fight Night 70 line-up to make up the numbers.

The event next Sunday now proceeds with eight fights currently slated, though there is the possibility that one more bout will be added to the line-up in the coming days.
