The UFC have finally acknowledged how confusing upcoming event names like ‘UFC On FOX Sports 1 #1’ are and so have decided to rebrand them as ‘UFC Fight Night’ shows instead.

‘Fight Night’ was originally a series of non-pay-per-view shows that aired for a number of years on Spike TV. The last one was ‘UFC Fight Night 25: Ellenberger Vs Sanchez’ back in September of 2011 before the name was dropped in favor of separate ‘UFC On FOX’, ‘UFC On FX’ and ‘UFC On Fuel TV’ branded cards after they switched networks in 2012.

Now it’s been resurrected and that means the upcoming ‘UFC On FOX Sports 1 #1’ show on August 17th will now be referred to as ‘UFC Fight Night 26: Sonnen Vs Shogun’.

Also look out for, ‘UFC Fight Night 27: Condit Vs Kampmann 2’ on August 28th and ‘UFC Fight Night 28: Teixeira Vs Bader’ on September 4th, all airing on the new ‘Fox Sports 1’ channel.

Meanwhile, another blast from the past – the ‘UFC Fight For The Troops’ event is set to make a return later this year too, with November 6th currently pencilled in as the potential date for it.

The UFC has previously aired two ‘Fight For The Troops’ shows on TV with the last one being at Fort Hood in January of 2011.
