UK fans will be disappointed to learn that this Saturday night’s ‘UFC On Fuel TV 2’ event won’t be airing live on ESPN UK.

Instead the show will be broadcast two an a quarter hours later via tape delay beginning at 10.15pm.

The reason appears to be that ESPN UK have chosen to air a French soccer cup final live instead of the UFC event in the 8pm timeslot.

Some UK fans will no doubt just be glad that they are still getting to see the event at a relatively reasonable hour compared to the usual 3-6am timeslot that has become the standard for most other live UFC events, but others will be disappointed that they won’t be seeing the action live.

It would be interesting to know how the UFC’s brass feels about being shunted down the pecking order by ESPN given that they are currently attempting to strike a new television deal in the UK market as their current contract ends in the summer.

At one stage ESPN UK appeared to be completely out of the picture in terms of a contract renewal, but more recently there had been a suggestion that they could yet strike a deal, and the new season of TUF: Live was picked up by the channel.
