The UFC have confirmed that they will be returning to one of their strongest emerging markets, Australia in 2012 for ‘UFC On FX 2’ which will go down on March 3rd.

To avoid confusion, due to the time difference between Oz and the U.S the event will in fact be broadcast live on Friday, March 2nd on FX.

The show is set to be headlined by a welterweight contest as two of the division’s top strikers Thiago Alves and Martin Kampmann lock horns.

Meanwhile this event will also be the landing spot for the introduction of the new 125lb flyweight division with the first stage of a four man tournament planned pitting Ian McCall Vs Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez Vs Yasuhiro Urushitani.

Prelims for the show have not yet been announced, but are expected to air live on Fuel TV.

This will mark the UFC’s third visit to Australia in the past three years, with the previous two being successful sell-out shows which have marked the region out as a MMA hot-spot.
