Friday night’s ‘UFC On FX 6’ show, which also housed the finals of the TUF: Smashes season, drew an average of 972,000 viewers.
Unfortunately that qualifies it as the least watched show in the series on FX, while the prelims on Fuel TV also underperformed with just 96,000 viewers.
These ratings are perhaps not too surprising when you consider that the event was largely based around an international ‘Australia Vs UK’ edition of The Ultimate Fighter which had only been available to watch online in the U.S so many people would have been unfamiliar with most of the fighters on the card.
Meanwhile neither Ross Pearson nor George Sotiropoulos who served as the season coaches and headlined the show are a significant draw at this stage so this was a weaker card than usual – though it should be stressed that for the most part the fights themselves actually proved to be rather entertaining.
On top of that this was also the first of two UFC events on FX at the weekend, with the ‘TUF 16 Finale’ airing a day later, so it could also have been that fight fans were only choosing one or the other to watch.
