With the dust barely having time to settle on the octagon floor after UFC On Versus 2, both the winners and the losers on the night were already firing up their twitter accounts to give fans their first thoughts.
If your wondering how Jon Jones got to be this good at just 23 years of age then based upon his post-fight tweets it may well be down to an unlikely combination of religion and nutrition.
“Lord with out you I’d be nothing,” he wrote after the fight, before later posting, “Big thanks to my nutritionist george lockhart !!
According to Greg Jackson immediately after his own fight Brian Stann went back to the dressing room to help his team-mate Jon Jones prepare for his fight, and he also reserved his first post-fight comment for the emerging star.
“More nervous for jonny bones than my own fight, he is ready to dominate,” Stann wrote, and dominate certainly proved to be the right word. Later he was delighted to discover that he had been awareded a $40,000 bonus for his three round battle with Mike Massenzio.
“Fight of the night! Big thanks to Mike Massenzio for fighting me, it was an honor.”
Not everyone can win on the night though, but like San Diego, Mark Munoz was staying classy.
“Thank you for all your support!! I’ll be back!! And I’ll be a lot better because of this! Much love to u all!”
For Tyson Griffin suffering the first KO loss of his career was a tough pill to swallow and in the immediate aftermath of the fight he paced the cage moodily and avoided eye contact with Gomi. After having time to reflect in the dressing room Griffin did finally pass on his congratulations however.
Tyson Griffin: “Congrats to gomi, sorry to my fans, just a little disappointed to say the least, but guess there’s a first time for everything.”
Some fighters were dealing with more than just disappointment however, like DeMarques Johnson who sustained a painful injury that’s certain to keep him out for some time.
DeMarques Johnson: “Orbital is broke, but in my best tony montana voice….. I’ll be back mannnnnn. Thank you guys so much.”
From the look of John Howard’s face at the end of his fight with Jake Ellenberger he too may have suffered a similar injury, but if that was the case he didn’t mention it, writing simply, “Thanks to all my UFC fans.”
Finally UFC president Dana White was salivating over the potential of the man who’s arguably the most exciting young talent in the promotion.
Dana White: “I have a ton of respect for vladdy and bones jones just launched himself into the top 8 in the world! Holy sh*t he has potential.
