The second episode of the excellent ‘UFC Primetime: Diaz Vs Condit’ show aired last night, and it was intense.

UFC 143 main event stars Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit both feature on it, but the big talking point on this occasion was the unexpected appearance of an extremely fired up Georges St.Pierre.

Of course GSP has been the subject of the Primetime series numerous times in the past, but despite his popularity he’s often criticized for not revealing too much of himself and being seen to have too much of a ‘clean cut’ image to be compelling to watch.

Something about a potential fight with Diaz seems to have flicked a switch in the champion’s mindset however, and there’s some eyebrow-raising quotes from him on this episode as we see him beginning his rehab training after the knee surgery that forced him out of UFC 143.

“I’m not afraid of him. He doesn’t know where I come from. He doesn’t know what I’ve been through in my life. I’ve probably had more street fights than he ever had in his life.

Believe me, I have my own demon in my head. People have no idea how dark I am in my head sometimes.”

Powerful stuff, but he wasn’t finished yet.

“A guy like him should not be champion. He’s going to be champion for a few months if he wins the fight, but as soon as I get back I’m going to put my hands on him and it’s gonna be done.”

  1. Yes sir! The soundbytes from GSP were the best I’ve heard from him which was funny considering he’s not even fighting!

I also loved seeing Nate almost getting emotional as he talked fondly about his big brother, and the eloquent way Condit’s father talked about his son.

This is definitely shaping up to be my favorite season of Primetime.
