Anyone watching ESPN2 last night may have been surprised to find that the second episode of the UFC Primetime: GSP Vs Shields show formed part of their evening schedule.

Normally the show airs only only on Spike TV, but as the UFC looks to spread the word ahead of what’s set to be a record breaking show at UFC 129 in Toronto next weekend, they made the decision to put the show on a range of different networks.

“I put [Primetime] on ESPN, Ion, Versus, Spike and Fuel for more distribution,” UFC president Dana White told MMAfighting earlier today. “More eyeballs. We put it everywhere.”

The same format is expected next Wednesday for UFC Primetime’s conclusion which will air at 11pm and 11.30pm ET on ESPN2.

For the time being this seems like a one off arrangement, but more programming on ESPN in the future isn’t something White is willing to rule out.

“As we continue to grow, who knows what could happen,” White told MMAJunkie. “ESPN covers sports, and it’s great to see them cover the UFC.”
