Good news UK MMA fans, you might be getting a UFC event in 2010 after all. According to a new report from MMAJunkie today the UFC have earmarked Saturday, November 5th for a show in Birmingham, England.

Today it was announced that UFC 138 will take place there, with Chris Leben Vs Mark Munoz expected to headline the card.

Leben has previously headlined an event in the UK against Michael Bisping back at UFC 89 in 2008, while this will be Munoz’ first appearance topping the bill.

Leben and Munoz will also have the honor of being the first five-round non-title fight in the UFC – something that will now become the norm in the future for the promotion.

The United Kingdom was at one stage the UFC’s main focus overseas, but as the sport has grown other territorities have also come into play with Australia in particular proving to be a happy hunting ground for them, while Brazil looks set to also become a regular destination in the future. Plans are also well under way for a Japanese event to take place early next year.

Today’s news was somewhat unexpected and means that the heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos that was expected to take place at UFC 138 now switches to UFC 139 later in November.
