Bit of a surprise here to start UFC 161’s main card – not so much in that Shawn Jordan emerged victorious, but rather that he managed to stop Pat Barry with punches in just 59 seconds.
Body kick from Barry to start this one off. Barry comes in with a punch and Jordan responds with a couple of his own.
They rest and Jordan comes forward with a flurry of punches, with two uppercuts in particular appearing to really hurt Barry and he drops down to the canvas against the cage.
Jordan unleashes another barrage of blows and Barry’s doing nothing but cover up and so with just 0.59mins of the first round gone the referee brings an end to the fight and hands Jordan the TKO victory.
Very nice win for Jordan, but a tough loss for Barry and with just two wins in his last six Octagon outings a disappointing display like this may have put his future in the promotion in jeopardy.
