UFC Reveals Fighters Who Were Drug Tested Most In 2015

mma and ufc news

The UFC ramped up their anti-drug policy substantially in July of 2015 with plans for fighters to now be tested both in and out of competition throughout the course of the year, and they’ve now released more details about the frequency of the testing that they’ve done so far.

In total 156 UFC fighters have been tested a total of 353 times since July 1st with leading stars Jose Aldo, Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey being the most tested athletes on eight separate occasions during that period.

They were closely followed by Antonio Silva, Dan Henderson and Holly Holm who were each tested seven times, while Vitor Belfort, Rafael dos Anjos, Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero all underwent six tests.

The plan is for the number of tests to gradually be ramped up with the overall goal being to do 2,750 tests every year once they are up to full speed.

The UFC’s Jeff Novitzky who overseas their anti-drug policy had previously revealed in an interview that fighters who they suspect might be using performance enhancing drugs are more likely to be tested more often, though at the same time the testing done so far suggests that high-profile / main event fighters are also receiving more attention at this early stage.

Take a look at an extended list of fighters who’ve been tested four times or more in 2015 below, and for the record, on that list Gleison Tibau has so far been the only one to have tested positive for PED’s during this period, being provisionally suspended last month for using EPO.
