A major new bout has been announced for August 27th’s UFC 134 (aka UFC: Rio) event, with two former light-heavyweight champions going head-to-head for a second time.

The bout sees recent displaced 205lb champ Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua having the opportunity to seek vengeance for a 2007 submission loss to Forrest Griffin.

Rumors of the bout originally stemmed from Brazil, but have since been confirmed via Dana White by MMAfighting.

Shogun’s loss to Griffin in his UFC debut at UFC 76 was a shock to many at the time, and the Brazilian will be anxious not to let lightning strike twice this time around in front of his home fans.

Griffin has momentum coming into the fight though after victories over Tito Ortiz and Rich Franklin, while Shogun appeared to be having difficulty getting back into his stride against Jon Jones after spending a long time out of action after extensive knee surgery.
