UFC Scraps Fight Night Event Scheduled For March 7th

The UFC’s 2015 schedule will now go ahead with one less event after they opted to scrap a ‘Fight Night’ event scheduled for March 7th.

Tentatively pencilled in as UFC Fight Night 62, no destination had been officially announced for the show, although there were rumors that it would take place in Ontario, Canada.

“While rumors of an event in Windsor had been circulating, this event was never officially confirmed or announced by UFC,” the promotion told MMAjunkie. “UFC did consider holding a Canadian Fight Night event in March. However, the organization always strives to put on first-class events in every city, and this was proving to be a challenge within the required timeframe.“

News of match-ups for the event had also been thin on the ground, though former TUF winner Michael Chiesa had indicated just a few days ago that he would be featuring on the card, while TUF Nations champ Chad Laprise had also been expected to feature.

Despite this card being scrapped the UFC still has two other events scheduled for the same month: UFC 185: Pettis Vs Dos Anjos on March 14th and another Fight Night show in Brazil on March 21st.

In total the UFC now has 44 events lined up for their 2015 schedule.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
