The UFC have revealed that Dana White is set to make a major announcement tomorrow at 1pm Eastern Time (6pm UK time).

At this stage the exact nature of the announcement is under wraps, but to tide you over until then we do have a couple of hunches about what it could be about.

The first thing that springs to mind is that it will be the unveiling of heavyweight star Alistair Overeem as the UFC’s next big signing.

A deal for the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion and current DREAM / K-1 champion has been known to be in the works in recent weeks, and earlier this week Dutch site suggested that a lucrative deal had indeed been agreed though Overeem’s management Golden Glory later denied that was the case.

On the other hand the UFC are also believed to be in contract talks with Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Dan Henderson about making the switch back to the promotion now that his current deal is up, so it could just as easily be him.

If it’s not that then it could be an announcement regarding the participants on November’s ‘UFC On FOX’ event.

The rumor mill has been running on overdrive since the event was first announced and with a little over two months now until the show takes place the promotion will need to come to a decision on which fighters will get the coveted two live spots on the card sooner rather than later.

Of course it could also be a curveball that we aren’t expecting. There’s only one way to find out and that’ll be via Dana White’s media conference call tomorrow so stay tuned to for all the details and analysis as soon as the announcement is made.

Just as we finished speculating on what the announcement will be about, Dana himself revealed that it will indeed be about the UFC On FOX card…

“The “BIG Announcement” 2 morrow at 10 am will be the FOX fight. The UFC and FOX are so pumped for @UFCONFOXSports!!!!!!!!”

Exciting stuff.  Stay tuned to the site tomorrow to find out who it’ll be.  Based on speculation over the past few weeks amongst the potential front-runners for a spot on the card are Lyoto Machida, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, Rich Franklin, Vitor Belfort, Dan Henderson and Alistair Overeem.
