UFC Switch Event To San Diego After Poor Ticket Sales In Utah

In an unprecedented move the UFC have pulled the plug on an event in Salt Lake City due to poor ticket sales.

The UFC On Versus 2 show which will feature a headline bout between Jon ‘Bones’ Jones and Vladimir Matyushenko will now be switched to San Diego.

“Our television ratings in Salt Lake City have always been strong, and when we finally found the opportunity to bring a UFC event there with a great card, I was very surprised and disappointed in ticket sales,” Dana White states in a press release issued today. “As a result, for the first time in UFC history, I decided to pull the plug and move this Aug. 1 event to the San Diego Sports Arena.”

No specific reason was given for why the ticket sales were poor, though some have already pointed to the fact that 50% of Utah residents are mormon’s who traditionally denote Sunday as a day of worship.
