At tonight’s UFC 140 post-fight press conference Dana White made an announcement that the long rumored 125lb flyweight division will be arriving in March of next year.

Not only that, but to kick things off they’ll be hosting a four-man tournament which will decide the first ever UFC Flyweight champion.

The fights have also already been lined up. Firstly, Ian ‘Uncle Creepy’ McCall (11-2), the current No.1 flyweight fighter in the world will be signing to the UFC and will take on former UFC 135lb title challenger Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson who will move down to his natural weight class for the fight.

Another current UFC bantamweight star Joe Benavidez will also be making the trip down to 125lbs where he’ll meet another top flyweight star in Japan’s Yasuhiro Urushitani (19-4-6).

The winner of those two fights in March will then go on to fight for the 125lb title later in the year.
