(UPDATE:  The UFC have announced that the UFC And WEC are to merge – read more HERE)

The UFC have called a press conference for Thursday afternoon to reveal a big announcement, and the latest rumor is that they may be set to reveal plans to launch their own TV network.

UFC president Dana White had first commented on the idea prior to UFC 121 in an interview with Broadcasting & Cable.

“Sports Business Journal just came out with a survey asking big names in the industry which sport could start its own network and 4 out of 5 said us. They are right. I agree. That will happen within the next couple years,” White noted when asked about the potential for them to start a UFC Network.

Now ESPN are suggesting that this is set to be the announcement.

“UFC is planning to start it’s own TV network,” said ‘Pardon the Interruption’s’ host Michael Wilbon on SportsCenter earlier today. Apparently they say there will be more news on this tommorow (Thursday).

Are they on the money or are they just reporting on the same B&C article we already know about? We’ll find out for sure on Thursday at 1pm ET.
