Vitor Belfort Calls Out Wanderlei Silva For Rematch

Vitor Belfort is eager to resume his MMA career after signing for ONE FC last year and he’s now calling out another veteran star, Wanderlei Silva to rematch him.

The 42-year-old Belfort memorably fought Silva all the way back at UFC Brazil in 1998 in a fight that became famous for ‘The Phenom’s’ blitzing barrage of blows in the opening minute of the bout that led to a TKO stoppage, and now he wants to run it back some 22 years later.

“THE TIME IS TICKING #42 @wandfc — i heard that you are asking to fight me again?” Belfort wrote on Instagram.

“I hope this is true. I have a Christmas gift for you. — i am willing to give you the most anticipated #rematch that will ever happen in the #mma combat sports history.

Do you accept my GIFT [🎁] ?

If you do, I already suggest the date and the location. What about the end of February, Singapore [🇸🇬] @onechampionship #ONE is one of the most growing sports organization in the world [🌎]

Merry Christmas @wandfc.”

In a separate message, Belfort implored One FC boss Chatri Sityodong to make the fight.

“@yodchatri @[email protected] let’s give to this amazing fans, this fight on the best platform of combat sports.”

So far, Silva hasn’t responded to Belfort’s call-out. The 43-year-old last fought against Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson at Bellator 206 in September of 2018 and was knocked out in the second round.

As for Belfort, he announced his retirement in May of 2018 after suffering a front kick KO loss against Lyoto Machida at UFC 224.
