After over a year on the sidelines middleweight contender Vitor Belfort looks set to headline UFC 122 in Germany against Yushin Okami according to f4wonline.com.
Belfort had been hoping for a title shot against Anderson Silva, but due to the nature of Silva’s last fight with Chael Sonnen, it looks likely that they will now head for an immediate rematch instead.
Meanwhile Belfort and Okami will undoubtedly be battling to establish who will face the winner of the Silva Vs Sonnen rematch.
Recently Belfort had publicly stated that he did had asked the UFC not to give him a fight overseas, but with the promotion requiring a headline star for their second visit to Germany it seems he’s had a change of heart.
Okami will no doubt be thrilled with the match-up, putting him within touching distance of a title shot which he’s often been overlooked for in the past, while also giving him his first outing on the main event.
UFC 122 takes place on November 13th and is expected to be broadcast via tape delay free on Spike TV.
