Momentum appears to be building for a potential Wanderlei Silva Vs Chris Leben showdown in the UFC after both fighters declared their interest in it.
“Chris is eager to fight again after his loss to Brian Stann,” Leben’s manager Ibarra told MMAWeekly.com earlier today. “(He) would like to reiterate his desire to compete against a legend of the sport and personal hero of his in Wanderlei Silva.”
Meanwhile Silva, who is recovering from knee surgery that’s kept him out of action for almost a year, has stated that he also wants this fight to happen.
“I fight with Chris Leben. I think we gonna give great show for the fans,” Silva stated.
Since his post fans have been bombarding UFC president Dana White pleading for this fight to be made.
Stylistically it’s the perfect fight, with Leben and Silva being two of the most exciting stand-up fighters in the sport. known for their ‘all or nothing’ approach to fighting, a bout between them would undoubtedly be an all-out war with little chance of going the distance.
Update: Later in the day UFC president Dana White stated that despite the two fighters campaigning for the fight, that the UFC are looking to pit Silva against Vitor Belfort.
