Well it looks like War Machine finally did it. After a number of brushes with the law over the past few years the former Ultimate Fighter prospect’s antics have finally caught up with him and he is set to do time for a brawl he was involved with in a bar earlier this year.

The fighter posted the details on his own twitter account earlier today.

“Weak! Looks like Ill be doing a year in San Diego County jail. Prolly gonna go in about 2 weeks..ugh. Gonna be SO boring! No delicious food, no training, no wifee, no friends. Whatever tho when I get out my partners and I will be opening our sick gym in Austin Texas and Ill be righ back to fighting. Jail is DUMB. All it does is press the PAUSE button on your life. What’s it supposed to teach you? Anyway, who knows some bad ass books I should read!?”

A video of the incident in which War Machine can clearly be seen fighting was captured on CCTV which appears to have helped to convict him.

Check out a news report containing both the CCTV footage and video from the resulting criminal trial below.

  1. Despite everything about Jon, his antics during TUF, his misrepresentation of the sport, his mental state, his troubled past and pornography shoots…I kind of liked him. His fight with Jared Rollins in the TUF season finale was fight of the night worthy, maybe even fight of the…six months. But after this it’s virtually assured he will never be in the UFC. Shame.

  2. Yeah, in his lucid moments he seemed like a decent guy, but there’s no doubt he had a lot of issues. Shame he couldn’t rise above them and get on with his life.

With his volatile personality, willingness to fight at the drop of a hat and battles with depression and suicidal thoughts, I fear prison’s not going to be a good place for him despite how relaxed he seems about it right now.
