If you ever had doubts about how strong the bond is between Brazilian stars Anderson Silva and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira then the outpouring of emotion after the veteran’s KO win over Brendan Schaub will tell you all you need to know.

After his own impressive victory at UFC 134: Rio on Saturday night Silva revealed that ‘Big Nog’s’ against-the-odds victory in front of his home fans, which came after an 18 month layoff due to multiple surgeries on his knees and hips, reduced him to tears of joy and relief.

“I was in the locker room when he went out for the fight,” Silva told UOL Esporte. “I was tense. But when the victory came, I started to cry.

“People know that Minotauro is an idol in my life. Hell, I cried like a baby.”

And he wasn’t exaggerating either. Footage backstage in the locker-room in the moments after Nogueira won the fight has now emerged and shows ‘Team Nogueira’ celebrating and Silva getting emotional.
