Yesterday in New York City Strikeforce held a ‘Meet The Fighters’ session to allow fans the chance to see the eight competitors who will battle it out in the promotion’s Heavyweight Grand-Prix which gets underway on Saturday night.

All eight participants were introduced to the crowd and later signed autographs, while Fabricio Werdum treated fans to a demonstration of his now infamous ‘triangle choke with armbar’ submission which brought an end to Fedor Emelianenko’s 10 year unbeaten run last year.

As you might expect Fedor was given the biggest reception by the estimated 1,500 fans in attendance, while Josh Barnett was treated to more than a few boos.

All in all it was a successful promotional offering from Strikeforce who hope it will attract some New Yorker’s out to New Jersey on Saturday night to attend the first two quarter finals as Fedor Emelianenko fights Antonio Silva and Andrei Arlovski takes on Sergei Kharitonov.

That will then be followed by the other two quarter-finals in April, with Alistair Overeem Vs Josh Barnett and Josh Barnett Vs Brett Rogers.
