Former UFC light-heavyweight champion and current No.1 contender Rashad Evans was the star guest at the UFC 135 Fan Q&A session prior to the weigh-ins last weekend, and we’ve got highlights of it for you below.
– Evans believes that Jon Jones youth and inexperience is benefitting him in that he’s willing to try anything in the Octagon, and so far it’s worked out for him. Once he does finally get caught out though Evans expects him to start fighting more conservatively.
According to the former champ Jones does have holes in his game, but right now he’s getting away with them because he’s so unpredictable.
– He has no plans to return to his former Jackson’s MMA training camp as he feels let down by Greg Jackson and he also says it’s not the close-knit camp that it used to be and now a lot of fighters come and go giving it a “transient” feel.
– Evans jokes that if he fought Lyoto Machida again he wouldn’t try to talk while getting hit with punches. He admits that was the fight that he learned he wasn’t invincible.
Like with Jones, Evans feels that you can’t get caught up in worrying what Machida is going to do and just end up watching him, you have to be aggressive and fight your own fight.
– He hints that one day he may bury the hatchet with Jones, but doesn’t expect it to come any time soon.
