When he’s not busy fighting in the Strikeforce cage or the UFC’s Octagon, Cung Le moonlights as an action movie star, and his latest movie ‘Dragon Eyes’, which also stars Jean Claude Van Damme comes out on DVD next month.
Judging by this trailer this movie has no plot whatsoever, but there is plenty of ass-kicking to be had, and for MMA fans it’s also notable due to the fact it also features cameos from the likes of Dan Henderson, Trevor Prangley and Gilbert Melendez.
The Director is John Hyams who previously was at the helm for JCVD’s reboot of the ‘Universal Soldier’ series which also featured a few MMA stars, most notably Andre Arlovski. Hyam’s also was behind the camera for the classic MMA documentary ‘The Smashing Machine’ which took a ‘warts and all’ look at the fighting life of former UFC tournament champion Mark Kerr.
Despite a busy acting schedule Le is still finding time to put his martial arts skills to real use at the age of 39 and will do so again in July when he takes on another fighter who’s had a couple of stabs at the movie business, Rich Franklin at UFC 148.
