After Friday’s announcement that Cain Velasquez Vs Junior Dos Santos would headline the first live ‘UFC On FOX’ event in November the network promised that they would be airing promos for the show on their other major sporting properties such as the NFL and MLB starting with immediate effect.

The first evidence of this has now emerged and you can check it out below.

The ‘UFC On FOX’ logo flashes up briefly on several occasions as did a graphic featuring the two fighters during the Texas Rangers Vs Boston Red Sox game as the announcers informed viewers that the heavyweight title fight would be airing live on FOX on November 12th.

Interestingly they also went on to mention the UFC’s next pay-per-view event, UFC 135: Jones Vs Rampage as well. If that’s how things are going to proceed going forward then it’s a dream come true for the UFC to not only be on network television, but to also have FOX be willing to help promote their other events too.

Update: Here’s a second promo that aired during the same game and featured a brief trailer…

  1. I think it’s interesting that they don’t mention UFC, just “heavyweight championship of the world” Not a bad thing, but interesting

  2. I think about half-way through they do mention that it’s the UFC heavyweight championship, but you’re right, they don’t make a big deal out of mentioning that it’s the UFC.

I’m a little surprised they are just promoting it as if people will know what it is. If it was me I’d be keen to push the fact that this is the fastest growing sport in the world, and touting it as the future of combat sports. That’s the sort of thing I’d expect people who are unfamiliar with MMA to sit up and take notice of.

I’m not complaining though. Overall I’m just delighted that FOX are putting in the time and effort to promote it in any way, shape or form, and I’m sure that what we’re seeing here is just the tip of the iceberg.
