Earlier this week during their official press conference to announce a major new TV deal with the UFC, FOX unveiled a trailer for the newly revamped ‘Ultimate Fighter’ reality show which will air on Friday night’s on the FX channel.
The major new change to the format is that it will now have a live element to it. Instead of the show being filmed over six episodes and then being broadcast months later over the course of 13 episodes, now the show over the course of 13 weeks with that week’s footage being shown on the Friday.
Then that week’s fight will be shown live, and afterwards viewers will have the chance to vote on who should be selected to fight on next week’s show.
Meanwhile the two star coaches on each season of the show will now also be training for their eventual fight at the same time instead of having their camp after the show has finished filming.
All of which should lead to more drama, excitement, tension and hopefully a new lease of life for the long-running show.
