On Sunday night the WEC gets underway in 2010 with the WEC 46 event featuring the lightweight title unification bout between Jamie Varner And Benson Henderson.
Henderson, who earned the interim title fight in a hard fought battle with Donald Cerrone that was many people’s pick for 2009 Fight Of The Year, will now face Jamie Varner who has not fought since defending his title in controversial fashion against the aforementioned Cerrone in January of 2009.
The stacked card also features the return of the promotions top draw, Urijah Faber as he looks to get back to winning ways against another tough opponent in Raphael Assuncao who is riding a six fight win-streak (two of those coming in the WEC). It is believed that the winner of this fight will move on to face the promotions current featherweight champion and fast rising star, Jose Aldo.
Aldo’s last victim, Mike Thomas Brown is still a major force to be reckoned with in the featherweight division and he begins his climb back to the top against 12-6 fighter Anthony Morrison who will be making his WEC debut.
