Yoshihiro Akiyama Confident He’ll KO Vitor Belfort At UFC 133

Yoshihiro Akiyama hasn’t had much luck in the Octagon recently, suffering back-to-back losses, but with his next fight against Vitor Belfort at UFC 133 next month promoted to co-main event status he now has the perfect opportunity to remind everyone why he should still be considered a dangerous fighter at 185lbs.

It’s an opportunity that the Japanese fighter has every intention of seizing, and he’s convinced he can pull of a spectacular win on the night.

“It’s a good thing that Vitor is confident about the fight, but I am even more confident I’ll knock him out,” Akiyama says in his pre-fight promo for UFC.com.

Akiyama then goes on to give his assessment of Belfort’s skill-set.

“Vitor is very good at jiu-jitsu and very good on the ground. He also has great striking and great power in his hands. I’ve always looked up to him and strived to be more like him.”

However, along with giving ‘The Phenom’ his due respect for his renowned striking skills Akiyama also serves the Brazilian a warning.

“It’s always dangerous to stand and bang with me. I’ve been working on my power, my striking and my speed. He is going to have a very hard time trying to handle me. Every time I fight I fight like my life is at stake.”
