Alistair Overeem will welcome back Walt Harris to the Octagon when they headline UFC Fight Night 172 in Portland Oregon on April 11th.
Harris will be making his first appearance in the Octagon since the tragic murder of his step-daughter Aniah last year.
Harris had in fact been training for a fight with Overeem at UFC On ESPN 7 in December, but had to withdraw due to the ongoing search for his daughter at the time.
Prior to that heartbreak in his personal life, ‘The Big Ticket’ had been undefeated in four fights in the UFC.
That started with a TKO victory over Daniel Spitz, though his next split decision victory over Andrei Arlovski was overturned to a no-contest after he tested positive for a banned substance that was later proven to have come from a tainted supplement.
After a four month suspension Harris returned with a TKO victory against Sergey Spivak, followed by a 12 second KO stoppage of Aleksei Oleinik.
As for Overeem, he was TKO’d be Jairzinho Rosenstruik just 4 seconds from the final bell of their five round encounter back in December>
Before that Overeem had been riding back-to-back wins, having TKO’d both Sergei Pavlovich and Alexsei Oleinik.
Overeem vs. Harris is expected to headline a UFC Fight Night 172 card that will also feature Michelle Waterson vs. Carla Esparza.
