A previously postponed main event between Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira will now headline the UFC’s May 13th event in Jacksonville, Florida – the second of three shows scheduled to take place in an eight day period, while Ovince Saint Preux moves up to heavyweight to fight Ben Rothwell on the card.
Smith recently revealed that he had been in a fight with a home intruder in the early hours of one morning, but luckily he emerged unscathed from that, while his last sanctioned bout back in June of last year so him emerge victorious against Alexander Gustafsson by submission.
In total Smith has won four of his five fights, with his only loss coming earlier in 2019 against current 205lb champion Jon Jones, who won by unanimous decision.
As for Teixeira, despite now being 40-years-old the Brazilian continues to make a good account of himself in the Octagon and is currently riding a three fight winning streak against Karl Roberson, Ion Cutelaba and Nikita Krylov.
Meanwhile, OSP has somewhat surprisingly decided to step up to heavyweight following a recent 2-3 stint at light-heavyweight.
That included wins over Tyson Pedro and most recently Michal Oleksiejzuk, while his losses have come against Ili Latifi, Dominick Reyes and Nikita Krylov.
He faces an experienced veteran in his heavyweight debut with Rothwell, who managed to upend a three-fight losing streak against the likes of Junior dos Santos, Blagoy Ivanov and Andrei Arlovski by TKO’ing Stefan Struve late last year.
