Antonina Shevchenko, sister of UFC star Valentina Shevchenko, was one of two fighters to be awarded a UFC contract following the third episode of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders Series last night.
Shevchenko had an impressive resume heading into the fight, holding a 39-1 kickboxing record along with a perfect 5-0 run in MMA to date, and she continued that form into last night’s fight against Jaymee Nievara.
Shevchenko’s muay thai clinch proved to be the key to victory here and she was able to land repeated knee strikes to her opponent in the second round against the cage to force a TKO stoppage in the main event of the evening.
In the co-main event, Te Edwards also won a UFC contract after a swift stoppage against Austin Tweedy, knocking him out with his first punch in just 28 seconds.
