Chuck Liddell Vs Tito Oritz Trilogy Fight Now Official Under Golden Boy Promotions

It’s been in the works for quite some time and now it’s finally official, Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz will fight for a third time.

However, this time it won’t take place inside the UFC’s OCtagon, but rather will fall under the Golden Boy Promotions banner, ran by legendary boxer Oscar De La Hoya.

“I’m proud to announce we’ve signed a deal for the fight between Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz,” De La Hoya said in a statement. “This will be huge for sports fans around the world. Ortiz and Liddell are two of the most recognized fighters in MMA history. They are legends in the sport.

”Everyone remembers their rivalry helped put the sport on the map, and we’re excited to host the next and final chapter of this historic rivalry.”

No further details have been made available as to when and where the fight will take place, other than to confirm that despite De La Hoya and Golden Boy’s boxing background, the fight will be fought in the cage rather than the ring.

The 48-year-old Liddell holds two stoppage victories over the 43-year-old Ortiz due to strikes, but he hasn’t fought since retiring in 2010, while Ortiz remained active for many years after, eventually hanging up his gloves in January of last year in the Bellator promotion after a win over Chael Sonnen.
