Courtney Casey vs. Priscila Cachoeira Cancelled After Weigh-In Issues

A fight between Courtney Casey and Priscila Cachoeira has been scratched from tonight’s UFC Fight Night 181 event prelims in Las Vegas due to weight-cut issues.

Cachoeira is believed to have had a rough time making weight, and it’s believed that she slipped and fell in the bathtub, which resulted in the fight being cancelled.

In hindsight it’s not surprising that Cachoeira had difficulties as she’s had an exceptionally rough lead-in to this fight, starting with testing positive for Covid-19 not so long ago.

After recovering from that the Brazilian fighter then contracted Dengue Fever and only got back to training on October 15th, giving her just two weeks to prepare for the upcoming fight.

“To be honest, if I tell you I’m 100% prepared, no I’m not,” Cachoeira told MMAfighting.com at the time. “I have a huge heart inside of me and I will never back down.”

Huge heart or not, Cachoeira’s camp or the UFC should really have stepped in to stop the fight from happening at that stage as she had clearly gone through a lot and should have been given more time to prepare for her next fight properly.

Cachoeira’s withdrawal on the eve of the fight has now left the promotion with no time to find a replacement for Casey and so the event will go on without them.
