A heavyweight fight between Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov has been rescheduled to headline UFC Fight Night 177 on June 20th.
The fight between Blaydes and Volkov was originally scheduled to go down in March in Saskatoon, but had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic and though it’s not officially confirmed yet, will likely now be heading to the UFC’s own APEX facility in Las Vegas.
Blaydes is in form heading into this fight, having won his last three fights in a row, beginning with a decision win over Justin Willis, followed by TKO stoppages of both Shamil Abdurakhimov and Junior dos Santos.
In total that leaves ‘Razor’ with only one loss in his last 10 UFC fights and as such he’s currently holding the No.3 spot on the heavyweight rankings.
Volkov also has an impressive record though, as he’s coming off a win over Greg Hardy to get back on track after his first loss in the UFC – last gasp KO defeat to Derrick Lewis in 2018.
In total Volkov’s UFC record stands at 5-1 and he’s defeated some big names along the way, like Roy Nelson, Stefan Struve and Fabricio Werdum.
Blaydes vs. Volkov fronts a UFC Fight Night 177 card that will also feature the likes of Lyman Good vs. Belal Muhammed and Raquel Pennington vs. Marion Reneau.
