The final edition of the 2020 Contender Series took place last night in Las Vegas and we’ve got all the results for you below.
JP Buys was one of four fighters to receive a UFC contract on the night after he secured a late first round submission finish against Jacob Silva.
Buys initially had Silva apparently trapped in an arm triangle choke, but when Silva managed to escape he changed to a guillotine choke that led to the referee waving the fight off with just six seconds of the round remaining.
Gloria de Paula also gets a chance in the UFC after she got the better of the striking against Pauline Macias, while denying her opponent opportunities to get the fight to the mat, leading to a convincing unanimous decision victory (30-26 x2, 30-27).
Meanwhile, Tucker Lutz got the better of Sherrard Blackledge in all three rounds to secure his UFC spot, while Victoria Leonardo was able to get to mount in the second round of her fight with Chelsea Hackett and land ground and pound blows to register a TKO victory.
