A potential women’s bantamweight title eliminator between Erin Blanchfield and Manon Fiorot has been pushed up to main event status at UFC Fight Night 241 in Atlantic City, New Jersey on March 30th.
Originally the event was reported to be headlined by a welterweight fight between Sean Brady and Vicente Luque, but Brady later revealed that he’d never actually signed up for the match-up due to ongoing injury issues.
The UFC have a lot of other events around that time, including UFC 300 just two weeks later that’s already drawn a lot of the available star power and so it seems the promotion haven’t been able to draft in a new headliner.
Instead they’ve turned to a fight that’s certainly worthy of topping the bill on a Fight Night show as both Blanchfield and Fiorot have put together impressive runs in the 135lb division.
The 24-year-old Blanchfield is currently ranked No.2 in the division after going 6-0 in the UFC to date with wins over the likes of Taila Santos, Jessica Andrade and Molly McCann.
One place below her in the rankings at No.3 is the 33-year-old Fiorot, who has also gone on a six-fight winning streak, defeating the likes of Rose Namajunas, Katlyn Chookagian and Mayra Bueno Silva.
Blanchfield vs. Fiorot now headlines a UFC Fight Night 241 card that also features Chris Weidman’s retirement fight against Bruno Silva and Alonzo Menifield vs. Carlos Ulberg.
