Frank Camacho Out Of UFC Fight Night 177 After Positive Covid-19 Test

Frank Camacho is the latest UFC fighter to have tested positive for Covid-19 and it’s forced him out of this coming Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night 177 event, where he had been due to fight Brok Weaver.

Back in June it had been Camacho’s previous opponent Matt Frevola who had been forced out of the fight on just two days notice due to his cornerman, Billy Quarantillo (both of whom also fight on Saturday night) testing positive for the virus.

On that occasion Camacho fought Justin Jaynes instead and lost by TKO in just 41 seconds, so he will be disappointed that he’s not getting a chance to get back into the Octagon and try to get back to winning ways for the time being.

However, the UFC has been able to bring in a fighter to replace Camacho, with Jalin Turner going up against Weaver instead now. As it happens, Turner had also been left without an opponent due to Covid-19 last weekend when Thiago Moises tested positive, so the good news is he’s still in shape and ready to fight.

With only a few days until fight night there will now be an anxious wait to see if any other fights are disrupted to coronavirus, with the originally scheduled main event between Glover Teixeira and Thiago Santos also having been scuppered recently for that reason, leaving Michelle Waterson vs. Angela Hill as the new headliner.
